A 65-year-old man, Ghafari Abdulahad, has been arrested and charged with the sexual battery of a minor in Fairfax County, Virginia. The incident occurred on September 7 when Abdulahad allegedly grabbed the wrist of a girl under the age of 18 and groped her along a walking path near Wood Poppy Court. The victim was able to escape and notify the police.
Following the incident, the Fairfax County Police Department created a composite sketch of the suspect and conducted a large canvass of the area. During this process, they received additional tips related to similar incidents involving the same suspect. These included another assault against a minor and a case of sexual battery against a minor.
Based on the tips received, police spotted a man matching the composite sketch, later identified as Abdulahad, walking on the pathways. During questioning, Abdulahad admitted to frequently visiting the walking paths in the area of Burke Commons Road and Roberts Parkway.
Abdulahad has been arrested and charged in connection with the September 7 incident and is currently being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. The police are continuing their investigation into the other reported allegations against Abdulahad.
