We recently spotted several KemPower DC chargers under construction at UOA Business Park Glenmarie, signaling the arrival of a new EV charge point operator (CPO) called DC Handal. These chargers, located in the open air parking area, are set to provide convenient access for electric vehicle (EV) owners.
DC Handal is using the same brand of charger hardware as Gentari at Bangi Golf Resort and Petronas KLIA, as well as ChargEV at Berjaya Times Square. At the UOA site, the chargers are situated on the ground floor, with the actual charger hardware located one level down at B1.
Upon further investigation, we discovered that DC Handal has a total of four locations in the Klang Valley, including UOA Business Park, Wisma MCA KL, The Vertical Bangsar South, and Bamboo Hills. Interestingly, most of these locations are connected to property developer UOA, suggesting a possible partnership.
We also found another DC Handal location in Johor, marked as restricted/employees only at the Handal Indah HQ. This provides a clue about the company behind DC Handal, as it appears to be a subsidiary of Handal Indah, a bus provider in Johor. Handal Indah has shown interest in green mobility in the past, entering into a memorandum of understanding with Petronas Gentari for an EV bus charging network.
With their entry into the end user CPO market, DC Handal aims to establish a strong presence in the EV charging industry. As more EVs hit the roads, the demand for reliable and accessible charging infrastructure continues to grow. DC Handal looks set to seize this opportunity and contribute to the development of green mobility in Malaysia.
