According to Seonghoon Woo, CEO and co-founder of Amogy, this move will enable the company to ramp up its manufacturing operations and deliver its ammonia-based, emission-free, high energy-density power solutions to customers globally.
Amogy, founded in 2020 by four MIT PhD alumni, has a mission to enable the decarbonization of hard-to-abate sectors such as shipping, power generation, and heavy-duty transportation. Their innovative technology utilizes ammonia as a fuel source, providing a green alternative to traditional fossil fuels. Ammonia-based power solutions offer a high energy density and emit no harmful emissions, making them a sustainable and efficient choice for various applications.
The company has already demonstrated the success of its ammonia-to-power technology in a drone, tractor, and semi-truck. Additionally, the Amogy team is currently retrofitting a tugboat, which will become the world’s first ammonia-powered vessel.
