Tesla’s recent price cuts to the Model S and Model X seem to be having a positive effect, especially for the flagship all-electric SUV, the Tesla Model X.
In August, Tesla reduced the prices of the Model S and Model X. Before the price cuts, the vehicles started at $88,490 and $98,490 respectively. After the price cuts, the Model S began at $74,990 and the Model X at $79,990.
Social media observations from Tesla watchers suggest that the price cuts have led to an increase in orders for the Model X. Initially, the estimated delivery date for the vehicle was set for September to October 2023. It was later revised to October to November 2023. As of today, Tesla’s online configurator for the Model X in the United States states an estimated delivery date of November to December 2023 for both the Model X Dual Motor All Wheel Drive and the Tesla Model X Plaid, which has a Tri-Motor All Wheel Drive setup.
Similarly, the Model S is also experiencing a rise in orders. Following the price cuts, the estimated delivery date for the Model S was set for September to October 2023. Currently, the Model S Long Range Dual Motor All Wheel Drive and the Model S Plaid have an estimated delivery date of October to November 2023 in the United States.
The current prices of the Model S and Model X make them highly competitive. There are very few vehicles, electric or otherwise, that can match their technology, performance, and safety features at their current price range.
