Jeep India has recently unveiled the Black Shark variant of the Compass in the Indian market. Priced at ₹26.49 lakh ex-showroom, this new trim is based on the Limited variant and offers cosmetic upgrades.
One of the noticeable changes is the addition of a “Black Shark” badge on the front fender, showcasing a logo of a black shark along with the Jeep branding. The Compass Black Shark is available in seven color options including Brilliant Black, Techno Metallic Green, Pearl White, Red, Magnesio Grey, Silvery Moon, and Galaxy Blue.
Cosmetic changes are not limited to the exterior design. The badges on the Black Shark variant are finished in black, including the belt line that runs throughout the side and rear profile. The pillars, outside rearview mirrors, and side cladding are also black. The front bumper features blacked-out elements, and there are new black 18-inch alloy wheels on the sides.
Under the hood, the Compass Black Shark is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that generates 168 bhp of power and 350 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission, which drives the front wheels.
Moving to the interior, the Compass Black Shark offers an all-black theme with red accents. The cabin features black leatherette seats, enhancing its premium appeal. The touchscreen infotainment system measures 10.2 inches and supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It runs on Jeep’s UConnect 5 user interface.
While the Black Shark variant misses out on the fully digital instrument cluster found in the top-end S trim, it includes an analogue speedometer and tachometer. The driver can access various information through the digital TFT screen positioned between the two dials.
In terms of safety and convenience features, the Compass Black Shark comes equipped with an electronic parking brake, adaptive brake lights, connectivity features, wireless charger, dual-zone climate control, remote keyless entry, push button start/stop, cruise control, and more. Safety highlights include traction control, electronic stability control, anti-lock braking system, roll over mitigation, hill start assist, rear parking camera with sensors, and six airbags.
Jeep’s introduction of the Black Shark variant adds another appealing option to the Compass lineup, providing customers with a sportier and visually distinctive option within the popular SUV segment.
