Tata Nexon EV Facelift Takes On Hyundai Kona EV in Competitive Electric SUV Segment

Tata Motors has recently launched the updated Nexon EV at a competitive price range of ₹14.74 lakh to ₹19.94 lakh (ex-showroom). This move has re-energized the competition in the electric SUV segment, where rivals such as Mahindra, MG, and Hyundai have their respective models. One of the key competitors for the Tata Nexon EV is the Hyundai Kona EV.

Although Hyundai has been in the Indian electric car market for several years, the Kona EV has struggled to capture a significant share of the market. In contrast, the Nexon EV has been a game-changer for Tata Motors, currently holding over 80% of the Indian electric car market.

When comparing the price and specifications of the 2023 Tata Nexon EV facelift and the Hyundai Kona EV, it is clear that the Nexon EV offers a more affordable option. The Nexon EV facelift is available in two powertrain options and six trim options, with prices ranging from ₹14.74 lakh to ₹19.94 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the Hyundai Kona EV is priced between ₹23.84 lakh and ₹24.03 lakh (ex-showroom).

In terms of specifications, the Nexon EV facelift is available in two powertrain variants: Mid Range and Long Range. Both variants are equipped with improved battery packs that provide greater range compared to the pre-facelift model. The Mid Range variant offers up to 325 km range, while the Long Range variant offers 465 km range on a full charge.

In comparison, the Hyundai Kona EV is powered by a 39.2 kWh battery pack, which promises a range of 452 km on a single charge. While the Hyundai Kona EV offers a higher range than the Nexon EV Mid Range model, it falls behind the Nexon EV Long Range model.

Overall, Tata Motors has made a bold statement with the updated Nexon EV, offering an attractive and affordable electric SUV option. With its competitive pricing and improved specifications, the Nexon EV facelift is set to give the Hyundai Kona EV a run for its money in the Indian electric car market.
