The smart #1, a fully electric SUV, is now open for booking in Malaysia. This makes Malaysia the first ASEAN country to offer pre-orders for this electric vehicle (EV). Bookings can be made through the Hello smart app with a refundable fee of RM1,000. The first 501 customers to pre-order will receive charging credits worth RM1,001 upon delivery of their new EV.
The smart #1 will be available in three variants: Pro, Premium, and Brabus. The estimated price range for these variants is between RM200,000 and RM250,000, including on-the-road costs but excluding insurance.
In terms of specifications, the smart #1 has similar dimensions to the MINI Countryman and is smaller than the BYD Atto 3. It measures 4,270 mm in length, 1,822 mm in width, and 1,636 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. The car has a ground clearance of 182 mm and weighs between 1,780 kg and 1,900 kg depending on the variant. The boot space ranges from 323 to 411 litres and can extend to 986 litres with the rear seats folded. There is also a front trunk (frunk) space of 15 litres.
Each variant of the smart #1 comes with a different powertrain. Both the Pro and Premium have a rear-mounted electric motor, but they differ in terms of battery capacity and chemistry. The Brabus version, on the other hand, has an additional front electric motor for an all-wheel drive setup and more power.
In terms of equipment, the Pro variant comes standard with features such as LED headlamps, alloy wheels, a panoramic roof, powered front seats, dual-zone climate control, and infotainment system support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Premium variant adds matrix LED headlamps, adaptive high beam, sequential turn signals, leather upholstery, extended ambient lighting, and a Beats sound system. The Brabus variant has a more aggressive design, vented bonnet, 19-inch alloys, and red brake calipers.
All variants of the smart #1 come equipped with driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, parking assist, and autonomous emergency braking.
The #1 Pro has an ‘After Dark’ interior, while the Premium has a two-tone white and black interior.
