With the launch of the V112-3.0 Vestas will set a new standard for efficiency and performance, and thereby improve availability and lower the cost of energy.  Designed for low and medium wind speed sites and high winds in its offshore version, the V112-3.0 MW turbine delivers high productivity due to its large swept area, high rotor efficiency and an increased serviceability.

The first video in this interactive news release explains the story behind the v112 turbine and how it was developed.

Through the Highly Accelerated Life Testing at Vestas state-of-the-art testing center, components have been pushed beyond expectations, and design flaws have been corrected long before the turbine reaches the market. In that respect, the V112-3.0 MW turbine is well proven, brand new, and progressive. It can withstand virtually any climatic conditions from tropic heat and humidity to arctic cold, making it suitable for basically any onshore site with low or medium wind and offshore sites with high winds. The first V112-3.0 MW will be delivered to customers in Q3 2011.

Vestas' commitment to wind energy is global and the company has expanded their operations in the USA , specifically highlighted at the Capital Markets Day event in Colorado .  Vestas has clustered manufacturing, R&D, sales and service, spare parts & repair and supply chain in the U.S. in order to take cost out of the process.  North American customers thus gain an advantage because local production addresses the cost of energy.  Customers benefit from lower logistical costs, improved response time, and more customized solutions.  This all adds up to business case certainty.

Vestas has also used their global presence to create an iTunes Application, Vestas Weather, which provides information on locations worldwide.  For more information visit v112.vestas.com and www.vestas.com .
