"I am delighted that with the initiatives we have already started, we are close to reaching the target, and that there are many specific opportunities to get the last bit of the way. In the next months we will be discussing these opportunities in more detail - both in the medium long term up to 2020 and in the long term. I am looking forward to the Climate Commission publishing its report in September concerning how Denmark can become free from using fossil energy sources," says Climate and Energy Minister, Lykke Friis. Every second year leading up to 2020, Denmark must submit a report to the EU Commission documenting that it is meeting the intermediate objectives. The deadline for the first report is by the end of 2011.
