Denmark is the world's leading district heating nation with more than 60 percent of the population supplied with district heating. The technology is one of the main reasons why Denmark is the world's most energy efficient country and has managed to keep its energy consumption constant over many years despite significant economic growth in the same period.
Exports of Danish energy technology, including district heating technology, have seen a strong rise in recent years. The Confederation of Danish Industry estimates that exports can potentially be increased fourfold, thereby exceeding DKK 200 billion annually. Of this sum district heating exports could represent a sizeable slice especially because China, Russia and a number of other countries have become aware of the benefits of co-generation of electricity and heat, and district heating.
The eight companies represented on the promotion tour were COWI, Dall Energy, Danfoss, Grundfos, Kamstrup, Logstor, Rambøll and 7 Technologies.
