Siemens' investment in A2SEA is subject to approval from the competition authorities. The potential for offshore wind in Europe is estimated at around 100 GW, with only 2% of this potential being utilised today. Great Britain has the greatest offshore wind potential, and its offshore capacity has now overtaken Denmark's. Germany has offshore projects in development, and offshore wind power is also being looked at by France, Belgium, Holland, Italy, Finland and Norway.
