Advanced Power AG plans to develop a state of the art gas fired power station in the port of Eemshaven, Netherlands. The 1,200 MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant will be among the most efficient power plants in the world and is expected to start commercial operation by the end of 2013. Advanced Power submitted yesterday the Start Notice for the EUR 1.2 billion investment and this represents the first step in the permitting procedure. Over the course of the next three months Advanced Power will be holding a series of consultations with the public and other stakeholders on the proposed development. "This modern power station will improve the energy infrastructure and security of the supply of the Netherlands. We are proud that Advanced Power will bring this investment to the North of the Netherlands", says Gerrit van Werven, Director of Energy Valley, a regional initiative for the promotion of energy businesses.
