The American Bank Wells Fargo & Co. (WFC.N) announced on Tuesday that it will start to offset part of its electricity use. For that purpose, the bank will purchase renewable energy certificates. These will support the generation of 550 million kilowatt-hours of wind energy in the following three years. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced that this initiative will make Wells Fargo the largest corporate purchaser of these renewable energy certificates. The wind energy purchased is enough to offset 40 percent of the bank's electricity consumption.
